The Brooke Foundation was incorporated in December 2005 as a California nonprofit corporation dedicated to providing literacy and educational enrichment opportunities for children in need. During our first year we have set-up our organization, defined our goals, established priorities and embarked on our first projects. We believe we have developed into an organization ready to tell our story.

As a small foundation, run completely by volunteers, The Brooke Foundation seeks to partner with larger, established nonprofit organizations to support and supplement exisiting literacy and educational enrichment projects. Our geographic focus is Southern Calfornia.

Our first opportunity to fund a program came at the beginning of 2006. Quail Botanical Gardens, in Encinitas, California, designed a pilot program to bring preschool children from low-income areas to their children’s garden, Seeds of Wonder. It was a great success, but needed support to continue. The Brooke Foundation has had the joy and privilege of providing a grant to fund these preschool visits through December 2007. (See Programs)

The Brooke Foundation is also working with a local Reach Out and Read program and community service organizations and have many exciting plans for future projects and programs.
